 The size of your finished piece will depend on your gauge, yarn, and  hook size. All of the pattern descriptions have the estimated size based  on the standard gauge for the specified stitch type. 

 For the graph patterns, the amount of yarn you will need will depend on your gauge, yarn, and  hook size. All of my graph patterns have keys with color, stitch counts, and yardage for the suggested brand.

For the hand and machine knit patterns, the amount of yarn needed will be indicated in the pattern.

 No problem at all. I have graphghan resources to help you learn how to create your own piece of art. For absolute beginners, I always suggest starting with a two color pattern, and as you become more advanced, move on to the patterns with more colors.
